Data Analysis, Forecasting and Business Intelligence with Excel, Power BI and Power Query

Cabinet Nova Conseil supports organizations throughout the Democratic Republic of the Congo in turning dispersed data into understandable, usable management tools. The offer serves SMEs and mid-sized companies, mining, commercial, industrial and service businesses, institutions, NGOs, entrepreneurs, professionals, students and researchers. Our approach is practical: start from your files and business questions, improve the reliability of available data, build explainable analyses and scenarios, and transfer the skills needed to use them. Outcomes depend on the quality, availability and governance of the data provided; no commercial, financial or operational performance is guaranteed.

LOCAL CONTEXT

An engagement designed for DRC realities.

The proposal reflects an environment in which formalization, record quality, data availability and infrastructure continuity may vary across organizations and provinces. It can support a gradual move toward data-driven management without confusing a management tool with regulatory compliance. The DRC combines significant extractive activity with a diverse non-extractive economy; ANAPI lists agriculture, mining, energy, infrastructure, tourism and new technologies among its areas of intervention. Dashboards can therefore be designed for supply chains, remote sites, multi-province programmes or urban operations, with explicit assumptions about exchange rates, inflation and lead times whenever these factors materially affect the data. The institutional sources reviewed describe the country’s natural resources and development challenges, ANAPI’s role in improving the business climate, the statistical role of the INS, and EITI-RDC’s publication of extractive-revenue information. These points provide context for the offer; they do not predict any client outcome.

01

An offer built around your decisions

We begin with a focused scoping exercise: decisions to support, priority indicators, reporting frequency, available sources, owners and constraints. Depending on the agreed assignment, we may address sales, procurement, inventory, production, costs, management cash monitoring, projects, human resources, programme activities, commercial performance or beneficiary tracking. Excel is suited to controlled analysis and collaborative models; Power Query automates recurring imports and transformations; Power BI supports interactive dashboards and sharing under defined access rights. Models are documented to support continuity rather than dependence on one individual.

02

From heterogeneous files to usable data

Cabinet Nova Conseil reviews workbook structures, duplicates, missing values, units, periods, currencies and indicator definitions. Power Query can consolidate recurring files, standardize labels, validate data types and make transformation steps visible. We clearly distinguish observed data, assumptions, estimates and projections. When data is insufficient, we say so and propose a collection or control plan; we do not invent figures or present an estimate as a fact.

03

Forecasting and scenarios without false precision

Forecasts can support procurement, inventory, volumes, capacity, staffing or management-budget preparation when historical data and explicit assumptions are available. Where relevant, we compare several scenarios—conservative, central and dynamic—and show sensitive variables. In the DRC context, analysis may separately incorporate observed effects of exchange-rate movements, inflation, supply lead times, seasonality, infrastructure constraints or data interruptions. A projection is a planning tool, not a promise or personalized legal, tax or financial advice.

04

BI adapted to Congolese sectors

For extractive industries, dashboards may track production, volumes, costs, shipments, suppliers, incidents or ESG indicators, subject to the project’s data and requirements. For non-extractive sectors—trade, industry, agriculture, energy, transport, telecommunications, health, education, services and NGOs—we adapt indicators to actual operations. Solutions must reflect infrastructure, connectivity, data-entry quality and team availability constraints. We prioritize manageable source files, realistic refresh routines and simple governance, with user validation.

05

Support, knowledge transfer and prudence

The engagement may combine diagnosis, design, implementation, training and start-up support. Workshops use your cases and files when authorized. We explain formulas, queries, measures, filters, control rules and interpretation limits. For institutions, NGOs and researchers, we can structure indicators, time series, monitoring tables and presentation materials. Confidentiality, access and file retention are agreed with the client; regulatory, tax, legal or investment matters remain with the relevant qualified professionals.

Data-quality and structure assessment with anomalies and control recommendations.

Structured Excel workbook with tables, formulas, controls and user documentation.

Documented Power Query workflows for importing, cleaning and consolidating the agreed files.

Power BI dashboard or Excel report with indicators, filters, period views and relevant segmentation.

Forecasting or scenario model with visible assumptions, limitations and sensitivity tests where data allows.

User guide and handover/training session adapted to the relevant profiles.

Maintenance and governance plan covering refresh frequency, controls, roles and an indicator dictionary.

A question, a project, a decision to structure?

Let us build a clear, useful and realistic engagement.

An initial conversation clarifies the need, available data, users and timeline.
